About Liposuction
Liposuction, also called suction lipectomy, is a procedure that removes pockets of fat from the body to help smooth contours. Many people find that no matter how healthy their lifestyle may be, they are unable to lose fat in particular areas. Liposuction is an ideal procedure to address fatty deposits on the thighs, hips, belly, flanks, upper arms and neck. Liposuction is a method of body sculpting and is not intended for weight loss. Proper diet and exercise after liposuction is important to maintain the contouring achieved by liposuction.
Liposuction Techniques

Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty, or "tummy tuck surgery", is a dramatic procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the belly, and tightens the abdominal musculature. The abdominal area is commonly affected by weight fluctuations and pregnancy, causing the abdominal skin to become loose. Some patients also develop unsightly stretch marks, or striae. The abdominal muscles also stretch and lose their tone, resulting in a diastasis recti, which causes a prominence of the lower belly. These changes in the abdominal skin and muscles are often unresponsive to diet and exercise.
Procedure
Tummy tuck surgery removes the excess skin and fat as well as stretch marks of the lower abdomen. A muscle-tightening component is often added to narrow the waistline. Liposuction can be added to further sculpt the abdomen and flanks. Certain patients may be good candidates for a "mini" tummy tuck, an extended abdominoplasty, or a panniculectomy.
Dr. Lim and Dr. Weintraub operate together, which reduces the time you spend in surgery. A traditional abdominoplasty typically takes about two hours, and the incision is designed to lie low on the abdomen, where the scar can be easily concealed.
The surgical team at Duet uses internal "progressive tension" sutures to assist with healing and help achieve a more aesthetic scar. They place small drain tubes during the operation, which are typically removed 1 week later. You will wear an abdominal binder or garment after surgery to help with support and reduce swelling.
Recovery
Our tummy tuck patients go home the day of surgery, especially if they live in the Bay Area. However, our patients who live further away are encouraged to stay locally overnight, and anyone who undergoes more extensive surgery may warrant an overnight stay with an experienced caregiver.
Returning to work is usually possible 2 – 4 weeks after surgery. Although the scar will always be present, it should fade over time. Most people notice a dramatic and permanent improvement of their abdominal area after a tummy tuck.
Many of our patients use topical scar treatments, including gels, creams, and silicone sheeting, during their recovery to improve the appearance of their scar. Cost
The cost of an abdominoplasty varies from person to person, based on the complexity of the procedure, the amount of time required, and whether other procedures (such as liposuction) are performed in conjunction.

Brazilian Butt Lift & Fat Grafting
The Brazilian Butt Lift offers a way to increase the size and refine the shape of the buttocks area by transferring a patient's own fat.
One of the procedures that has exploded in popularity recently is the "Brazilian Butt Lift" or BBL. While some patients have always had buttocks that seemed relatively small for their frame or have lost volume in that area due to weight loss and/or aging, others are simply looking to enhance the size and shape of their buttocks. The Brazilian Butt Lift offers a way to increase the size and refine the shape of the buttocks area by transferring a patient's own fat. This allows smoothing and narrowing in areas where there is excess fat, and grafting that "donated" fat to a more desirable area.
